Fruit grown in the Coliban Valley vineyard is hand picked and hand plunged in small batches to produce elegant fruit driven red wines reflective of the season and of the Heathcote wine region. The standard range of wines are aged for 12 months in oak barriques, predominantly French with some American. The Reserve Shiraz is aged in 100% French oak for 2 years. Rosé is produced each year in a dry style to be enjoyed chilled over the summer months.In 2010 a sparkling Rosé was added to our range of wines. In 2013 the first vintage of Coliban Valley Riesling was produced, fermented to dryness, in a crisp, citrusy style.

All wines are estate grown, produced and bottled using traditional methods. The first release was the 2001 Cabernet Merlot which received several bronze medals. The 2002 Cabernet Merlot was awarded a gold medal and the Frangos & Frangos Trophy for “The best Cabernet or Cabernet blend” at the 2003 Daylesford Wine Show. The Coliban Valley 2004 Shiraz was awarded a gold medal and the trophy for the “best wine in the show” amongst a line up of 70 local wines judged by John Ellis at the Kyneton Show. In James Halliday 2007 Australian Wine Companion Coliban Valley winery was given a 5-star rating and listed amongst the best of the Heathcote wineries.

Most recent awards include the Julian West Memorial Trophy for the Best Small Winery/Winemaker at the 2017 Daylesford Wine Show and at the 2018 Heathcote Wine Show the 2018 Rosé received a Gold Medal and the 2017 Shiraz a Silver medal.

Being a small producer of stunning Heathcote wines they sell out quickly.

Made in a dry style, crisp citrusy fruit, has excellent length. Serve chilled.

2022 Rosé  

Made in a dry style by fermenting Cabernet and Shiraz grapes without the skins, pale salmon pink colour, quite savoury, spicy fruit. Delicious served chilled.

13% alcohol

2021 Sparkling Brut Rosé 

Made in the same style as the table wine from Cabernet and Shiraz and then bottle fermented in the traditional method to produce a very elegant full-flavoured refreshing

sparkling wine.

2021 Shiraz 

A deep red colour, aromas of dark fruits, spice and coffee, elegant, smooth and concentrated with some pepperiness and well integrated oak. Enjoy from now until 2029.

14% alcohol

 

 2021 Merlot 

A ruby colour, aromas of plum, earthy, mulberry, a medium bodied palate with lovely soft fruit tannins and spicy plum, a good food wine. Enjoy from now until 2029.

12.5% alcohol

2021 Cabernet sauvignon 

A deep ruby colour, aromas of cassis , blackberry and spice, an elegant wine with good lingering fine fruit tannins, sensitive oak. Enjoy from now until 2028.
